Help 3rd graders strengthen addition fluency through quick multiplayer rounds that make everyday math practice feel exciting.
MathIt turns addition practice into a real-time challenge designed for 3rd graders who are building confidence with larger sums and faster mental math. Short rounds keep 8- and 9-year-olds focused while they compete with friends to solve addition problems first. It’s a fun way to sharpen core addition skills that support the bigger math concepts 3rd graders are learning next.

Everything you need to make math practice stick
Improve mental math speed, working memory, and cognitive processing through competitive practice.
All core features are free. Multiplayer battles, difficulty levels, leaderboards, and 20 languages included.
Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square roots, and powers. Full arithmetic coverage.
Answer as many as you can in 60 seconds. No sign-up — this is the same practice you get in the MathIt app.
Three-digit addition adds a second carry, and that is where it breaks — the tens carry is usually handled and the hundreds carry is usually dropped. This is also the grade to start estimating first: knowing that 380 + 290 should land near 670 turns a wrong answer into something visible rather than something marked later.
Third grade belongs to the times tables. Multiplication and division are introduced together, area and arrays give them a picture, and rounding to the nearest ten and hundred begins. It is the highest-leverage year in elementary arithmetic: the tables learned here carry fractions, long multiplication and mental math for the rest of school, and gaps left now surface for years.
3rd graders are expected to add three-digit numbers with carrying, and estimate a sum before calculating it; after that comes three-digit addition with carrying, and mental strategies for near numbers.
Watch for carrying correctly in the tens but dropping it in the hundreds on longer sums.
